Lance Corporal David Dennis, 29, of The Light Dragoons and Private Robert Laws was killed while taking part in a major UK military offensive in Helmand Province.

L/Cpl David "Duke" Dennis was killed in an explosion while on foot. He leaves behind his mother Adele, of Llanelli, as well as his twin brother Gareth and his fiancée Lisa.

Duke was one of the most loved guys in the regiment
Corporal Tony Duncan. He was described by his comrades as a "quietly spoken, popular soldier who was fiercely loyal to his friends and the Army".

Lieutenant Colonel Gus Fair, his commanding officer said: "Lance Corporal Dennis was one of a hugely talented generation of Light Dragoons. With tours of Afghanistan and Iraq behind him, he was experienced beyond his relatively junior years. Duke loved being in the regiment and the regiment celebrated this popular, genuine and heartfelt soldier."

Thinking of you

Dearest David, we never met you but sadly we were then when you were brought home, as our son Dane was with you also. It was the hardest day of our lives and no doubt for your family too. We met some of them and it was good to hear about you. Our hearts go out to all of your family as we know the pain they are going thru. All we can do is pray that you are in safe hands now. Goodnight and God bless angel xxxxxxxxxx

Goodbye from an old friend

I knew David and His brother Gareth from school in Dafen. Even though David did not go to Bryngwyn as I did, he always did say hello to me if I ever saw him around the town.

I cannot believe he has passed and the world is a sadder place for his passing.

I am proud to have known him and he will be sadly missed.

Rest in peace my friend.
